what's coming down the pipe

I am always in the process of something, aren't I? Lots of things in the works but it always takes me longer to get everything completed.

Yeah, I do senior pictures. I am in the process of launching my new site dedicated just to seniors. If you are, or know, a 2008 graduate, send them my way. I'll put out a big call to action for senior reps once the site is up and running. But here's a sneak peek of the logo with homage to my inner geek (aka: math teacher at heart):

I am getting ready to announce new pricing options for matted and framed portraits. Also pretty excited about a new ready-to-hang option I've only seen online. Once I get a few moments to take some portraits of my own children I will order samples for myself and let you know what I think.

Still working up revamping my living room/studio/presentation room but so far I am loving the sessions in there.

Expanded my one night photography class into a 4 week series and added a fun craft project. I'm currently teaching through Rochester Community Education and hoping to start Lake Orion in the fall.

And much more. Whew. I have got to get back to work.

for the kids

I am so thankful for my son's school and staff. It is a multi-age school that focuses on the individual. I was able to volunteer my services for their first Silent Auction. I designed the 52 page program and donated a Signature Session. I'm excited to say that the session was highly bidded and went for $50 over the actual value. Just a small way I was able to contribute back. The event was a huge success, raising almost $14,000, and I hope will become an annual tradition.

Just a few more weeks until we get our kids all to ourselves.

urban feel

Something new here. Kind of a grunge, urban feel to these portraits. I think this is something I would like to offer for older kids, tweens and teens. What do you think? Would you like something like this for your older kids? If so, email me and let me know.

hello, out there!

Just trying to get a gauge as to if anyone is blogging with me or not. If you're reading the blog, if you could please send me a quick note, that would be awesome. Let me know what you like, don't like, or would like to see. I would really appreciate it. Actually, the first ten people who contact me saying, "Hey, I'm bloggin with RRPD {the blog}" will get a credit for one complimentary 5 x 7 print with your next paid session. That's a $60 value. So, let me hear from you. And don't forget to sign up to receive an email right to your inbox when the blog is updated. That way you won't miss out on stuff like free 5 x 7s. The link is to your right.

Oh, and I've also added a calendar to the right that will list upcoming session dates and office closings. Cool.

Please note: 10 clients will receive credit for a 5 x 7 print only, no exchanges for different sizes or any other credits applied. Thank you.

cool ideas

So, you don't know how to display your portraits? Let me give you some ideas. I've recently started adding gallery recommendations with your orders. You decide on the arrangement, pick your favorite images and let me do the rest. Also, I'll soon be able to offer some options for framing and ready to hang products. Take a look!

I couldn't say it better

I recently received this note from a client. It made my week!
Turning 40 could have been the worst day ever…but when my boys took me to dinner to give me my gift, it turned out to be THE best birthday I have ever had---really. I absolutely love the pictures you took. The ones of A jumping around really capture “him”. I love that you had him take off his shoes!!

I thought I was the only one who could see the light that shines from A's eyes. Yet, you were able to capture it in the pictures you took that Saturday morning. Thank you. Forty never felt so lucky.

Her husband and son said they were going to Home Depot, changed in the car and headed to my place for a Signature Session. They both kept it a secret for a whole month until they had the enlargements and suprised her on her birthday. Way to go.

So, here is that precious boy.

just six ...

... days old that is. These brave, new parents brought their sweetie P to me so we could capture how little she will never, ever be again. Just look at those toes poking out and the love between mom and dad. So glad I could share in their moment.

boys

one cooperative three year old + one constantly-in-motion 11 month old + fish stickers = a terrific sibling shot

L & T's mom won the free session I donated to the Krambrooke Cropping Fundraiser. This is the third year I have been able to donate to their raffle and am always grateful to meet new clients.

communion

I had the privilege of photographing M, L & N as they prepared for their First Holy Communion. This age is such fun to photograph and they all enjoyed being in the spotlight for this special event in their lives. This is the fourth year I have photographed families from St. Hugo's and I look forward to next year, too.
